G A P: God Answers Prayers
GAP is the most significant charismatic programs that has been grafted onto the corporate structure of our worship system. In fact it has become institutionalized as our unique identity. This program was borne out of the consistent spiritual experience and testimonies of our Pastor and worshippers. On different occasions and circumstances the church prayed for the intervention and manifestation of God, and in most cases the Lord answered, some of them with fire. Fruit of the womb, ill health, family problems, immigration problems, exam success, just to mention a few, were always brought as prayer requests. Under heavy anointing the Pastor and the congregation prayed for God’s merciful intervention, answers and solutions. Most often than not, pleasant and heart-gladdening testimonies of answered prayers come pouring from members. As the saying goes the taste of the pudding is in the eating, KCP has a divine covenant with the Almighty God. GAP = God Answers Prayers was borne out of our practical spiritual experience of God, as Moses of old had his own spiritual and physical experience of Yahweh.
Structure: GAP has become institutionalized in KCP as a strong cornerstone and attraction. It holds every first Sunday of the month, 6 to 8:30 pm. It has grown so popular and it continues to grow. GAP service is very peculiar. Members bring their friends, neighbors, colleagues to come and experience the move of the Holy Spirit. People come with their written prayer requests and lay them at the altar.
GAP service is very peculiar: All the seats in the sanctuary are packed and stacked away, people sit or lie on the floor wherever and however they like. The service has four highlights/sections.
- Hour of Absolute Silence (6-7pm): Silent individual one-on-one with God. The only sound is a very soft devotional instrumental melody which creates an awesome spiritual atmosphere of solemnity.
- Ministration (7- 8:pm): The hour silence ends with a powerful ministration of doctrinal and spiritual pedagogy, praise, prayer and worship conducted by the pastor and two ministers in turn. This is usually punctuated by loud emotional responses and audience participation.
- Holy Communion: This is one of the special times members have the privilege of sharing in the holy sacrament- the Lord’s Supper. No one wants to miss it.
- Presentation of the prayer requests: This is the culmination of the service, presenting the individual requests to God in powerful and faith-packed invocation. Every body including all the children move on to the altar, lay hands on the requests, and bombard heaven to receive and grant the requests. The power of corporate prayer availeth much.
- Group photograph: Each GAP session is documented with cameras and video. The pictures are posted on the church website and Face Book, and more importantly, the pictures are used to publish very colorful calendar and almanac for the subsequent year.
- GAP Uniform: One of the most exciting attractions of GAP is the GAP T-Shirt which every participant wears to the service. The T-shirts come in a variety of bright colors: green, yellow, blue, white, grey and black. GAP is very uniquely KCP. It has also become our socio-spiritual identity.
- Children and GAP: GAP is very significant in the spiritual growth and development of children. During the one hour silence, the children sit around the adults and inculcate the deep spiritual discipline of silence in the presence of God. Although they are always engaged in guided activities such as writing or drawing or coloring religious expressions, they learn to do these exercises in deep reverential silence. During the ministration and the Holy Communion the children move into the children’s room to watch apt religious movies. Children are also very enthusiastic in laying their hands on and praying over the prayer requests. This is also very instructional for them to know that God also honors the prayer of children.
